White Peacock
This common mostly white butterfly can be seen year round in south Florida. It has an attractive overlying pattern of wavy brown lines and bands highlighted with three eye-spots and orange margins on each wing. It has a wing span of 2.5 inches and usually opens its wings when sunning or feeding. The flight pattern of the White Peacock is always close to the ground. It uses a variety of host plants like Water hyssop and Turkey tangle Fog Fruit (Match Head Weed). The caterpillar is black and spiny.
